Your body talks when it's not okay.
It tells you when you’re hurt.
It makes sure you know when something's off, so you don't ignore it.
You do something to get healthy.
Business is like that too.
It’s always talking to you.
It’s sending you signals about your profit, your team, and your customers.
But, are you ignoring it, or doing something about it?
In today's newsletter, we're sharing 3 key areas to tune in to your business, so you can stay healthy and enhance your performance.
Let's get into it!
This might hit close to home - we see it over and over again:
This year, a friend of ours was deep in the grind.
She kept pushing, telling herself she’d take a break in a couple of months when she had a holiday booked.
Exhaustion set in.
When she finally went on her holiday, she got sick.
Her body was at breaking point, and it gave up on her.
Instead of eating pizzas and gelato, she spent 2 weeks in Rome lying in a hospital bed until she finally recovered.
Now, picture that scenario in your business.
You're pushing, ignoring signs that something's off with your team.
It's like not paying attention to your body telling you to slow down.
Then, suddenly, something breaks.
Here are our suggestions to avoid this by listening to your business, and taking action before something breaks:
3 AREAS TO START LISTENING TO YOUR BUSINESS
1) Financial health:
This is like checking your body's vital signs.
Look at your monthly statements every month.
Notice variances (e.g. changes compared to last month, last quarter, last year, and with your budget).
Pro tip:
Even if you don’t have all the data you need right now, this is essential for a healthy business. Start now and build up your insights and knowledge over time.
2) People health:
Just like it’s important to listen to and care for your body, it’s important to listen to and care for your team.
Constantly engage with your people.
Proactively ask for their opinions through formal and informal means.
Care about what they think.
Respond to show you’re listening, which will create a culture where people want to share and see the benefits of it.
Pro tip:
This also means not overreacting to what’s ‘just noise’ and the 1 person who hates everything. 😉
3) Customer health:
Healthy, happy customers will sustain your business’ well-being.
Start by understanding how your customers are feeling now about your business.
Once you establish a baseline of customer sentiment, ask consistent questions and act on feedback, aiming to transform customers into advocates.
Pro tip:
To establish a sentiment baseline, try questions like, “On a scale of 1 -10, how likely are you to recommend us to a friend or family member?”
Your business talks.
And the trends it tells you about matter.
Listening, looking at data, and asking questions consistently will tell you so much about what’s changing and what you can do about it to stay healthy.
Get curious, understand root causes, and take action.
